Tableware and Cutlery Hire Terms

Terms for hiring tableware, cutlery and serving equipment, including deposits and damage.

Version 3 · Effective 2026-08-05

9.1 Scope and ownership

Hired plates, bowls, glasses, cutlery, serving utensils, linens, containers and related items remain Alicedda’s property unless the quotation states they are sold. The confirmation states the items, quantities, hire period, delivery/collection arrangements and any deposit.

9.2 Deposit

Any refundable deposit must be shown before acceptance. It is security for return, loss or damage and is not an automatic charge. The deposit remains linked to the existing payment record and is reviewed after return and inspection.

9.3 Customer care of items

  • Use items only for their intended purpose and in a safe manner.
  • Keep items secure and protected from avoidable loss, theft, misuse and damage.
  • Do not alter, mark, sub-hire or dispose of items.
  • Return items by the return deadline stated in your hire confirmation, in the agreed packaging or containers.
  • Tell us promptly about missing, damaged or unsafe items.

9.4 Cleaning and return status

The quotation will state whether the customer must rinse, clean or simply return used items. Items awaiting cleaning are not treated as available stock. A return may be partial and will be recorded by quantity and condition.

9.5 Loss and damage

We do not automatically charge for loss or damage. An authorised review will record the item, quantity, condition, evidence, proposed reasonable repair or replacement cost and customer explanation. Any deduction or charge will reflect actual reasonable loss, allow for fair wear and tear, and be communicated before the deposit is applied.

9.6 Late return

Where late return prevents another booking or causes additional collection or replacement costs, a reasonable charge may apply if it was disclosed or represents actual loss. We will not impose a disproportionate penalty.

9.7 Deposit refund

After all items are returned and inspected, the remaining deposit will normally be refunded within 14 days. Any proposed deduction will be explained with supporting information. The customer may raise a complaint before or after the refund is processed.
